Understanding Different Vitamins

Your body needs vitamins to function properly. As we cannot create our own we need to gain the nutrients from the food we eat.

Are There Different Vitamins?

Yes, there are different vitamins and it falls into two different categories. Water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body and are easily absorbed. Fat soluble vitamins can be stored in the body.
  
Fat soluble vitamins are:
  • vitamin A
  • vitamin D
  • vitamin E
  • vitamin K

Water soluble vitamins are:
  • vitamin Bs (B1,  B2, B3, B6 and B12)
  • vitamin C
  • folic acid

Fat soluble vitamins can be stored in the body and unsurprisingly, these types of vitamins can be found in fatty foods like butter and dairy foods. Fat soluble vitamins can also be found in oily fish and even vegetable oil.     


 As water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body, it is essential that we get the nutrients from the food we eat. This can be from fruit and vegetables and grains. However, by boiling and heating these foods many of the nutrients are lost through the cooking process.
                                         
However, another way that you could gain the nutrients you need is to supplement your vitamin intake with liquid vitamins. This is a great way to supplement what your body needs alongside a healthy diet that is rich in vitamins.
